CANDY FLOSS GIRL NEEDED - APPLY WITHIN

October 5, 2013

Owen’s not a happy man and is deep in debt due to customers who can’t, or refuse to pay their bills.  One customer in particular is causing Owen some grief, a big fella by the name of Pat Phelan who’s built like a brick out house and looks like the sort who’s got dodgy mates, very dodgy mates.  To get the money that he owes him, Owen pops round to Pat Phelan’s house and when he finds the door locked and Pat out, he and Gary-me-laddo break in.  No alarms go off and Owen rides off on Pat’s motorbike just as Pat returns home and collars Gary who speeds off in the van.   Anna’s not best pleased to find out that Owen’s nicked Pat’s bike and tells him she doesn’t want any bother brought to her door.  Too late.  Pat Phelan tracks Owen down and just when you think there’s going to be a gang of his dodgy mates, very dodgy mates, backing Pat up to help knock Owen down, Pat goes all soft and mushy and gives Owen an envelope with thousands of pounds of used notes inside to get the motorbike back, which belongs to his wife.  I quite liked Pat, menacing on the outside and cuddly on the inside, I hope we’ll see more of him in a cuddle-menace sort of way.

Over at th’ospickle, Nick wakes up and remembers everything.  Oh yes, everything.  When Kylie and Leanne visit, Leanne urges an uncomfortable Kylie to show Nick pictures of baby Lily that she’s got on her phone.  Leanne thinks she’s doing Nick a favour when she tells him, “Look, it’s Lily, it’s David’s baby” but Nick’s reply is a slow yet definite “Not….his.   Mine”.  Leanne hasn’t a clue what he’s on about it but Kylie knows that Nick knows and tells Gail who knows what Kylie knows and Nick knows but neither of them know that David knows although David knows that they both know.

Elsewhere this week, Daddy Connor arrives from Ireland to spend time with Michelle and grandson little Liam.  He’s as surprised as we all are that Marcus and Maria are still together, but Michelle’s confused as to why her dad would turn up without her mum. Anyway, she rings Mammy Connor who tells her she’s chucked Daddy out, and so he’s turned up in Weatherfield now.  If his roving eye lands on another lady, it could well be Liz McDonald who’s due to return very soon as Steve manoeuvres to buy the Rovers.

And finally this week, Julie and Brian are going through a tough patch as she wants to adopt and he doesn’t.  Then she has a chat with Rita in the Rovers about the perils and pitfalls of fostering a child.  It’s a lovely scene as Rita reminisces about Sharon and Jenny, but not without remembering that Sharon tried to kill herself and Jenny’s dad tried to kill Rita.  They chat in the pub with Deirdre listening in, finding herself a bit rudderless without her Ken. Anyway, Julie mentions fostering to Brian as an alternative to adoption but he’s still not keen and I wonder if this signals the end for this wonderful couple before Brian bids bye-bye as we know he surely will.

And that’s about that for this week.
